“You see the world so beautifully.” “You are my world.”
“I love you, Rosalina. I love you so much. All of this—we can do it. I promise you. You and I, as long as we’re together, we can . . . We can do this, okay?”
“How, Fare? How do we do this?” He pulls back, thumbs wiping away my tears. His own face is wet. “One heartbeat at a time.”
“I need a hundred more years with you, Fare. A thousand more years. A million!” “Eternity would not be long enough,” he says,
“It’s like being stuck in the eye of a storm you can’t escape. It’s suffocating, consuming. It’s waking up every day with a weight on your chest, wondering if today will be the day it crushes you entirely. Love is continuing to drink poison because it’s also the only antidote. For me, it is a battle that if he wins, I lose, and if I win, somehow, I still lose. Love is the only reason I still choose to draw breath.”
You let me hit you. What can I say? His star-flecked gaze shifts to me. I’m a masochist when it comes to you.
“You too, Rose. But not too careful. Take risks when you’re ready and rest when you need to. But most of all,” he pulls away to hold my gaze, “don’t be afraid of the fire within. It’s never led you astray before.”
“I don’t want vengeance.” Her voice cracks. “I only want you.”
“You have me, Rosalina,” I breathe. “Wherever I go, you have me. Whatever desert I leave my footprints in, whatever wilderness I inhabit or mountain I scale. It was set by the Fates and bound in the stars. You have me.”
“Whatever it takes, I will return to you, my Queen. If I have to crawl, I’ll crawl. If I have to swim through rivers of fire, I’ll swim. If I have to defy the Fates themselves and rearrange the stars, I will do it.”
“I’m still angry with you,” she whispers. “As long as you feel something for me.”
“It’s going to be a long road, Rosalina.” “I know. But I’ll be here at the end of it. I promise.”
The woman I know I can’t exist in this world without, even if it means living a separate life.
I wonder to all the stars why falling asleep next to the Prince of Thorns doesn’t feel like the most terrible thing in the world. “Goodnight, Cas.”
the fight doesn’t stop as long as you keep rising. Let them knock you down again and again. You just make sure you get up.”
“Home is more than the roads you’ve walked before or the walls that once sheltered you. You will find it within the bonds you’ve forged and the love you’ve shared. That is something that can never be taken from you.”
“No, Rosalina, I would. I would know you in any form anywhere in all the Vale. By the gentle curve of your smile and the way the air sparkles when you’re around.”
“In the night’s tapestry, I would know you as a star or as a bloom in a field of flowers. Did you know there is a particular cadence to your heartbeat? Especially when you’re around me. I could pick it out in a symphony.”
Don’t be dramatic, Cas.” Her breath brushes over my lips. “Dramatic?” My smile curves. “Dramatic would be saying that even if there was nothing l...

“My love for you is deeper than all the depths of the sea.” His forehead dips to mine. “I will do anything you ask. Please tell me not to do this.”
He tilts his head, giving me a curved smile. “Told you all along we were mates.”
“I will love you in the desert, under a blazing sun, or in the deepest depths of the jungle. I will love you when the rain pours down and we’re covered in mud, or when the night is so dark, the only light beams from your heart. No time nor distance nor magic can break my love for you.”
“Love is an endless sea, and in its depths, I find your strength.”
“Pull me beneath your waves,” he murmurs. I press my lips to his again. “I want to drown in you.”
“I will never stop loving you,” Dayton whispers against me. “Not until my last breath.”
“It’s really busy on the deck,” I say quietly. “Indeed it is,” Ezryn says. “Would be good for you and me to, you know . . . debrief.” “Absolutely, we should.” I bite my lip. “No real space up here.” Ezryn takes a step down until we’re standing chest to chest. His dark eyes blaze. “There’s a closet below deck.” “Perfect.”
“You were with me, Rose. Every decision I made, every action I took, I thought of you. You are my guiding compass.”
“How can you save my life and be the death of me all at once?”
“Inside you is power the realms have not seen in an age. Embrace your legacy. Let your heart guide you. This world was created by the same magic that flows through your veins. Do not doubt for a moment that you have the strength to shape it.”
“Wake now, Rose, to a glorious dawn. Shadows may be falling from the sky, but you are the sun. People pray for your light.”
Curse the O’Connell women! And curse the men who love them!
