There is one other possible source of salvation that needs to be debunked, lest we do harm unwittingly. It is understandable that the poor may believe that the development worker or the development agency will be the one who saves. After all, we come in power with four-wheel drive vehicles, money, technology, and technical knowledge. We seem to understand why things are as they are and how to change them. Helping the poor set aside this perception is a significant methodological challenge for the development worker. I will come back to this important issue in the chapter on development
