Never mind the hubris of believing that one could ever comprehend God’s plan. What was the point of God if one could understand Him? And so science itself must be its own purpose. Exploration must be its own reward. Even as explorers mapped the last reaches of Earth, the farthest points on the globe, one had to have faith that there was always something new to be discovered. Always was. Always would be.
