“This is why you didn’t want me to come into the woods,” said Ragnar. “You never touched my kegs.” “Yeah. Does that disappoint you?”
He gazed up at my dragon’s powerful form. When he spoke, his voice was full of awe. “I’ve never been happier to be so incredibly wrong.” And finally, I smiled.
“If you believe a few barrels of beer are more important than the deep, life-altering connection between two lonely souls, then I’m afraid you’re more hopeless than a hound without a bone.”
“Lilia.” I reached out and tucked a wayward strand of silver hair behind her ear, my fingers gently brushing her skin. She shivered and looked back at me. The flush had crept down her neck. “Come here.”
Her eyes darted back and forth between mine. “I am here.” “Come closer, so I can kiss you.”
I looked at him, and he looked at me, and suddenly, the world seemed to make sense for once. This man. I felt like I’d been looking for him my whole life, and I’d never realized it until now.
“Fuck, Lilia.” He palmed the wood on either side of my head. “I want to do unspeakable things to you.”
My breath caught. “You say that like it’s a bad thing.”
But I’d finally found someone who made me feel. And I wanted to make him feel, too.
You are going to be the end of me. And I would gladly face oblivion to have her look at me just like this.
“What are you doing?” I whispered. “I’m feeling pretty damn stubborn about making you moan.”
“I’d spend forever wandering the world with you,” he murmured.
“Then we’ll wander as long as you want.” He brushed his lips against mine. “The only home I’ll ever need is you.”
