Mrs. Cole was right. No matter what, nothing will keep us apart. We’ll always come back to one another, time and time again.
“I asked you once, though,” I recall. “Later, I asked if you were attracted to guys, and you said no.” His head lifts, eyes meeting mine. “Wasn’t guys.” My breath catches all over again. “Only me.”
“You’re mine now,” I whisper. “I hope you know that.” He leans down, elbows on the table. His hips are still pressed to my ass, and my legs are still around his body. He catches my lips with his own, kissing me once, twice. “Always yours,” he says. And as the fireflies twinkle above, our mouths dance.
“We have time. Don’t we?” Yeah. We do. “Kiss me?” he asks. Always.
It’s the knowledge that Lucky is in this with me. That I’m not alone in my feelings anymore. That, even though it’s impossible to know the future, I do know Lucky will be in mine.
He’s already written himself into my heart.
