Yeah, I fucking hated this male.
“Is this what gets you off?” I seethed. “Saving random females from getting their throats ripped out by bloodsuckers, only to use your brute strength against them while you do whatever you please?”
“There are a lot of things I get off on, little fae. I could show you sometime if you’d like to see.”
“Get away from me. I should gut you for putting a hand on me.”
“Gut me?” he repeated with a slight scoff. He crossed his arms over his chest, dropping his chin to look up and down dramatically with those piercing eyes. Again. “Careful, killer. I like my females violent, you know.”
Angel boy had to go.
“Need some help?” the angel called from behind me. “Fuck you!” I yelled back.
“I just saved your life,” the angel whispered, now much closer than he needed to be. “You’re welcome.”
“I’ll be seeing you soon, little huntress,”
“Trust me, angel, when you see me being rude, you’ll know.”
“I think I saw plenty of it last night while you were impaling vampyres in the chest.”
“Just so you know, I prefer to sleep naked.”
I have no plans to crawl into your bed late at night, as much as you may dream of it.”
Then something was grabbing me around the waist, hoisting me upward with strong, rough hands.
“Wrap your arms around my neck,” Wolf growled into my ear, barely audible over the continued roar of
the water.
“That’s twice that I’ve saved your life. I’ll be keeping count, by the way.”
Clearly, saving my life had been no laborious task for him and his fallen angel strength.
Wolf carried me into the bathroom and, within a second, set me on the edge of the bathtub. I didn’t fight him; I didn’t have the energy to.
Hells. Wolf looked good on his knees. Especially when kneeling in front of me
Wolf’s hands shot out, ready to catch me if I fell. The worry on his face was unmistakable. “Let me at least help you.”
For fuck’s sake. First, he threatens me. Now, he’s unlacing my boots and offering to help me undress?
No, Wolf certainly would not want to see this.
I didn’t have time to think before I spit directly in his face. “I think I got it,”
“I don’t want to watch you get hurt because I don’t like it. Fair enough?”
“Of course I was watching you. I couldn’t look away for a moment, even if I tried.”
“And stop acting like you’re nothing, Huntress. You’re forgetting who you really are.”
But then, in a softness I had never heard him speak in before, he said, “You are making me remember.”
“I thought you were going to train me,” I breathed, still fighting to catch my breath. “Not sit on top of me like some large brute.”
“What?” I breathed. “I didn’t poison it, I promise you that.”
“If I was a vampyre,” he breathed, dipping his head to my neck, “you’d be mine.”
I unsheathed Venom from my thigh, turning her in my palm. Wolf’s eyes shifted to Venom, then back to me. He fell to his knees. “Wolf,” I breathed.
“If you have to kill me, kill me. I deserve much worse than death at your hands, Huntress.”
How am I supposed to kill you when you’re the only fucking person who’s made me feel—”
He had submitted to me fully, had given up on his side of the fight.
I hated him the most because I didn’t hate him at all.
“Stop that,” Wolf growled. “Stop what?” “Thinking those things.” “You don’t know what I’m thinking.”
“Stop holding back,”
“You need to feed.”
Logically, I knew I hated vampyres. I knew I should hate Wolf.
“Feed from me.”
“This isn’t about what I want.”
“I can’t do that to you, Huntyr. I won’t.”
“Feel what I feel,” I whispered. “Feel how much I want this, too.”
Wolf filled an ache in my chest that I never thought would leave.
“I don’t trust you.” The lightning in his pupils simmered once more. “And I’ll spend the rest of my days trying to change that, Huntress.”
“Don’t make me tell you again.”
“I need to hear you say it.” His voice cracked. “Yes, I’ll tell you if I want you to stop.”
I had let a vampyre feed from me. And I actually fucking enjoyed it.
“Fine,” I breathed. “But don’t stay up there long.” “Careful,” Wolf teased. “It’s starting to sound like you’re worried.”
