“Gut me?” he repeated with a slight scoff. He crossed his arms over his chest, dropping his chin to look up and down dramatically with those piercing eyes. Again. “Careful, killer. I like my females violent, you know.”
The corner of his mouth lifted, and all hells, I couldn’t deny that he was attractive.
Welcome to Moira Seminary. I hope you’re all prepared to die.” Okay, not the best start to the academy.
Hells. Wolf looked good on his knees. Especially when kneeling in front of me.
Lack of knowledge is just as deadly as the inability to fight.”
Do you get some weird satisfaction from helping me? Is that what this is?” “Trust me,” he said. “If you want to see me satisfied, there are other ways to—”
“What are you smiling at?” I pushed. “Nothing,” he replied. “Just imagining you begging. It’s quite a vision.”
“Of course I was watching you. I couldn’t look away for a moment, even if I tried.”
I’d be much too bored here without you chaotically spiraling through this academy.”
“You’re a fucking goddess.”
“What the fuck happened? Who did this to you?”
We didn’t have to be enemies anymore. In fact, we weren’t enemies at all.
His eyes scanned my face, raking over every feature. “What?” I asked, suddenly feeling much too vulnerable. A silent beat passed. “You are a stunning creature, Huntress.”
“Huntress.” His breath was a wisp of a shadow in my mind. “You do not know the violence that runs through my veins, begging me to obliterate anyone who lays a hand on you.”
“Will you stay with me?” He tensed. My heart stopped. “I’ll always stay with you.”
But this? This was devotional.
“My heart bows to you and you only, Huntress.”
“My heart is yours, you bastard! You can’t leave me!”
Still on his knees, Wolf looked up at me. Water pebbled on his thick eyelashes. “I meant what I said, Huntress. My heart bows to you and you alone.”
“You are brave and incredibly difficult at times, but you are worthy of so, so much more, Huntress. You always have been.”
“I’m yours, so painfully yours.”
He did not speak my name ordinarily; he worshipped it.
My soul kneels to yours.
