The Lincoln Memorial loomed ahead as they drove across the Memorial Bridge and entered DC. The beauty of the bridge and the monuments beyond never failed to impress Ainsley. They were stunning visual reminders of how far she’d come, how lucky she was to live here, casually driving past monuments other people traveled thousands of miles to visit or only saw in movies.
