I settle my hands on the small of her back. It’s become my favorite place in the world to rest my hands, along the smooth curve of her spine.
I’ll be here for as long as she wants me. Stolen nights in hotels when I have a babysitter. Dinners, if she’ll let me take her out on the few nights I might be free. I want to send her flowers when her studio opens and the lavish gifts she’ll never buy herself. Drape her in diamonds and cushion her in luxury. Keep finding new ways to make her come.
I kiss her instead, pulling her slim body against mine. She tastes good, and fresh, and familiar. The thought of one day losing this
makes my head hurt, even as I’m kissing her, and even as she’s melting in my arms.

“I need Isabel. And I don’t know what I would do, how I could go on if I ever lost her.”
And loving Isabel will be glorious. Calling her mine, making her mine, and giving her the world. Truly letting go and giving in. To kiss her in public, to take her to dinners…
“I wrote my own scene,” he murmurs. “My own fantasy. There’s a highlighted part, too.” I press the button and watch as the screen flicks to life. There’s only one book in the library. It doesn’t have a cover, and when I select it, a page full of text appears. My eyes immediately find the highlighted part at the center. It’s only three words. I love you.
I’m so glad you danced into my life. If you’re going to ruin me, then, Isa, I’ll let you. There’s no one else I want to hurt for.”
“I always want to be inside you, sweetheart. It’s my favorite place.”
