“I didn’t mean to frighten you, little bird. I will not hurt you. You have my word.”
“Aye. Your name is very apt. You smell like the first spring flowers.” He sniffs again. “And like blueberry scones. I haven’t had scones in years, and right now, I’d like to eat my fill.”
“If I didn’t think she’d call the city guard on me, I’d bolt that door and have you spread out on her desk. We’d make a mess of all these neat papers.” He motions toward the stack of applications I’d leafed through earlier. “I’d lift those pretty skirts of yours and find out if you taste as good as you smell.”
The orc twitches his lips in an expression that’s almost smug. “See, Violet, I don’t need to touch you to make sure you’re taken care of. You’ll see.”
“Do you think I could get a good-morning kiss tomorrow?” I whisper. Marut huffs out a low laugh. “Aye. You can get as many kisses as you want.” That gives me pause. I’ve seen couples kissing in the streets of Ultrup, of course, but I didn’t know there was no limit to how many I was allowed. “Really?” I ask. “I can kiss you whenever I want?” Marut finally turns his head toward me, his dark gaze piercing. “You can kiss me anytime. And touch me. I am yours, Violet, and you can have me any way you want me.”
“If I promise not to put my hands on you, will you let me kiss you? Your body?”
“I could fuck you all night. And once you’ve gotten used to me, once you’re no longer sore, we’ll spend every night locked together. You’ll fall asleep with my knot still plugging you, and when you wake up, I’ll fuck you again. Or you’ll sleep just like this, on top of me, and you’ll be able to take your pleasure from me whenever you want.”
