“You’re sick,” Boreas rumbles, though not unkindly. “Don’t you see how the drink ravages your body? You believe it gives you strength and clarity, but it weakens you, drop by drop. Wine is the liar. Wine is the thief.”
“We hold fast to what is familiar. Fear often prevents us from stepping beyond that boundary.”
“I wonder if the fault is mine, to have thought so little of myself for so long that I squandered my life in serving someone who did not appreciate me.”
“Let’s go home.” I glance at him, startled, but he only smiles down at me. “Home,” I agree, and take his hand in mine.

I would lay waste to the world and place its greatest treasures at your feet. I would cross realms and topple empires and alter time, all for the promise of an eternity spent by your side.”
