You’re heading to Northland, Rachel. Most picturesque Christmas town in Minnesota. Enjoy!” On that bombshell, he hightailed it out of the office. Running away like a goddamn coward, and for good reason. I was furious and outraged, but not for the reason he thought I’d be pissed. Sending the Christmas hating Grinch to Vogue Magazine’s Prettiest Place for Christmas was one thing. But this was a hundred times worse for me, because there was only one orphanage in Northland… and it was the one I’d grown up in. Fuck that. No way in hell I’ll be going home for Christmas. Not this year, not any year.
Fuck, the man had no right to be this good looking. Like Frost, he was tall, and like Frost, he’d built out. Alfie had always been beautiful. Alfie in scrubs was kind of superhero-like. Alfie in dark blue scrubs with tatted up arms, a dark beard that looked soft and silky, and bedroom eyes definitely achieved the divine.
The broken bits of the day were all falling back into place from cat pee to sex with Saint Nick to Tinker losing the back of his head. Santa Claus sent an elf to kill me, and whatever was going on in this town, it was even worse than I remembered.
“Very fucking funny, Rainbow,” Nick growled, leaning his shoulder against the doorframe. “Payback, is it? Well, joke’s on you because Alf quite likes an audience.” A surprised squeak escaped my throat as Alfie thrust deeper. He said nothing, which seemed to imply Nick was telling the truth. Still, it was hard to hold a conversation when my world was being rocked by a man I’d once loved so hard it’d shattered my heart when he left. One of my three first loves and one of my three biggest regrets. “You know what he likes more than having an audience?” Nick purred, stepping into the room and

“Weren’t you getting firewood?” I murmured, somehow excavating that thought from under the sensual onslaught of Alfie’s hand cupping one breast while Nick cupped the other. Seriously, too many clothes. “I think Alf got the fire going without the wood.” Nick teased his tongue along the seam of my lips and I was torn between laughing and groaning. “I think you both bought wood for me.”
“You crazy asshole,” Nick yelled, but there was something darker in his voice. Lust. We might be crazy, but he fucking wanted me too. “She could have gotten frost bite.” “I did,” I told him, almost cheerfully. “Frost totally bit me.” Laughter and groans answered my pun, then Frost landed another slap on my ass. Worth it.
“Say it again,” he demanded in a husky voice, barely releasing my lips from his kiss. “I like you, Frost Jackson,” I repeated. He rumbled a sexy sound. “Well, I love you, Rayne Dear. Always have and never stopped.” He kissed me again, stealing all the air from my lungs and coherent thought from my head, then released me abruptly. “Reach under your seat, beautiful, I packed a thermos of coffee for the drive.” My brain was still back on that kiss, then I swore it stumbled and forgot how to run the brain cells together at all. He loved me. He loved me. It was like I played the declaration on

The first nightmare woke me up an hour after I fell asleep. It didn’t seem to matter that I’d collapsed, boneless, replete, and pretty much drunk on multiple orgasms. The shadowy fingers of the past came for me like Krampus on crack. “I’m right here,” Alfie murmured, arms curling around me tighter. “I’m here too, Rainbow,” Nick soothed, rubbing his foot along my leg. “Go the fuck back to sleep, Stormy,” Frost ordered, cupping my chin and kissing me breathless. They surrounded me, and it eased the chills wracking through me. The stubble on Frost’s cheeks scraped against mine. Alfie pressed
