Secretly, I thrived in the night. I always felt like I had my best ideas when the moon was still high in the sky. Like it somehow called to me.
I’d waited centuries for her, and even in the darkest of days, I’d known that the knowledge of her was too tempting a fantasy to fall into. To let myself bathe in her light was more than I could ever hope for.
“Someone who will be by my side, no matter what life throws our way. Someone who will dance with me in the kitchen at 3 am when I can’t sleep. Who will be there for me whenever things get tough.” I smiled, thinking of my parents, letting the thoughts spill out. “Someone who will be a great dad. Who will throw our child in the air, no matter how many times they laugh, because he can’t bear to stop. I guess I just want someone to build a life with. Someone who will love me through all of it. Someone who feels like home.”
“You’re a wicked little thing, aren’t you?”
How could such a sin be such an utter temptation?
“Teach him it’s okay to love, will you? He needs that. More than anything else.”
“Because you’re my light in the dark. You shine so bright, Luna. I never thought… No, could have never even imagined you. How you would illuminate my entire world.”
She took every jagged edge of me and made me want to be whole. For her. And I wanted—Fuck, I wanted everything. With her. Always with her. Even if I knew I didn’t deserve it.
“Sometimes people leave wounds, and even if the scars aren’t visible, it doesn’t mean they’re not there,”
For you, Moonbeam, I’d do anything. For our future, I’d tear down the world and rebuild it, even if it just meant one more day with you.
