Secretly, I thrived in the night. I always felt like I had my best ideas when the moon was still high in the sky. Like it somehow called to me.
I tried not to think about my dream from last night. The one that always started the same way. A flash of dark hair. Golden eyes. Mighty wings that unfurled in front of me. A palace that I was sure I’d never seen before.
I’d waited centuries for her, and even in the darkest of days, I’d known that the knowledge of her was too tempting a fantasy to fall into. To let myself bathe in her light was more than I could ever hope for.
I’m looking for something.” “And did you find it?” He looked directly at me, those dark eyes—almost black—practically peering into my soul. “I think I did.”
“So…” I wiggled my fingers through the grass, feeling the magic of the world all around me. “Should we ask each other questions or something?” I hoped the darkness would hide the blush on my face. “I didn’t bring you out here with ulterior motives anything.”
I'm sorry, but you approach him in a bar with the "come here often?" line and then ask if he wanted to get outta there and go somewhere else... then you take him to a park for 21 questions? what?! I thought we were going to Pound Town. 😅
She was light. Pure, unfettered light. How could I tarnish that with my darkness?
“Good girl,” I praised, and I didn’t miss the way her eyes sparked, her whole body seeming to light up at the praise. “Mmm, you like that, huh? Being my good girl?”
“Give me one more,” I said against her ear, pressing my lips against her pulse point as I felt it flutter under my mouth. “Come for me again, Luna.”
“I’ll buy you another dress. And another. However many you want, as long as you let me take them off of you.”
