All my life I gave up or gave in to others. I was always trying to please anyone who was even a little nice to me. I had hoped that if I did that, I’d receive some of their affection in return. I allowed myself and my worth to mean nothing to others, to be seen as a pushover, to be hit and hurt and laughed at.
