Have you ever wondered why some of Jesus’ stories seem to complicate or even cloud truth rather than clarify or simplify it? Perhaps God, who knows us better than we know ourselves, is not content to speak simply in bullet points, PowerPoint, or “Just-the-facts, ma’am!” but forms and informs us instead through imagination, intuition, and epiphany.15 Perhaps God wants to reach us through both sides of our brains.
