“Be careful, okay? Things aren’t as safe as they seem around here, and I don’t want anything to happen to you.”
“I shouldn’t care.” His focus settled on my lips. “But seeing you and Slade together like that earlier … it tore me apart.”
You’re the most authentic friend I have.”
“Good. I’d hate to have to kill every damn man who thinks they have a chance with you.”
“This is my hobby that I’ve never shared with anyone until you. I ran out and got a second helmet the next day, just in case I ever got the opportunity to ride with you.”
He pulled away, eyes glowing, and rasped, “Mine.” Maybe I should’ve argued, but all I did was nod and repeat his claim, needing him to know it went both ways. “Mine.” “Damn straight I am.”
“That’s the second time tonight you’ve threatened to kill someone for me. Should I be worried?” “Babe, where you’re concerned, I’ll kill anyone who’s ever done or will do you wrong.”
“Babe, I need you to calm down. You can’t die on me.” He rocked me like I was something precious, and his voice broke. “I can’t live in a world you’re not in.”
“What we have is something most people would kill for. It’s so damn rare and special, and not even love describes what I feel for you. You own me, babe, my heart and my body, and you’re the other half of my soul. When I say I’ll kill anyone for hurting you and any man for touching you, I fucking mean it.”
