“I think I’m hearing these arguments correctly. It’s difficult for humans to imagine the power of new emerging technology, right? If we were with Gutenberg in 1,450 and we said, ‘Imagine the ideas that will be written about using this printing press,’ we wouldn’t be able to do that much with the prompt. We certainly wouldn’t be able to imagine today. Or when electricity was discovered, did people truly imagine all that it would power? That we’d have a tiny Voyager spacecraft at the edge of our solar system stealing the Sun’s photons to power itself alchemically with electricity? That would be madness to have predicted. Absolute madness. Or when the Internet was created to send large files between universities, could anyone really imagine the Arab Spring or that the world’s elections, celebrities, and wealth would mostly one day exist on the Internet? Our imagination ends at the beginning of the unknown.”
