‘I think you’re right. I just need to write about the kind of man I would want to sweep me off my feet.’

‘Reading romance doesn’t make you hard to please. It gives you standards. Why shouldn’t we wait for someone special and not settle down with just anyone? Why shouldn’t we want someone to treat us well and be romantic?’

‘Some people are best seen in small doses,’

The problem is your standards mean you end up reading a book alone in your room every night.

‘Maybe great guys are about to come into our lives. Or we’ve already met them and are yet to realise.’

‘It’s the ones that make you think they are the men of your dreams but instead turn out to be a nightmare that are the problem.’

‘I never thought I would, and now I have, it’s terrifying, Liv.’

Don’t put so much pressure on it. If it doesn’t go well, what does it matter? It’s one day, Liv. You are such a hopeless romantic, you look at every man you meet as either the Darcy to your Elizabeth or someone who’s not even worth getting a coffee with. There is some grey in between. You might even have fun.’

‘Because love is scary. It means putting yourself out there. Opening your heart. And you could get hurt.’

Why was it that you could want something but be scared of it all at once?

‘There’s more than one happy ending in life. You’re going after your dream job; not many people actually do that.’

Because life is not about the ending, it’s about being happy as much as you can be while you’re in the middle of it.
