“You remember who the fuck you are. You are a Skull. We won’t forget. Don’t you.”
“He didn’t tell me why and I didn’t ask. Elijah didn’t betray anything you might’ve told him. But I know my son, and he wouldn’t ask for something like this if he didn’t think it was warranted.”
“You have nothing to be sorry for. Besides, I would take a thousand punches from him to be with you.”
“Because I would have to kill anyone who had touched what’s mine.”
I spent the next few years turning myself into the man she was going to need. One that would unapologetically reach in and pull her out.
She might be able to hide from everyone else, but I see her. Oh, do I see her. They have no idea just how powerful this woman is going to be. I knew it was going to take a strong man to walk beside her. I should thank Dirk for doing such a good job of keeping her locked away for me and only me. Draven is just a little annoyance. A blip on the radar. One I’m going to eliminate. “Oh, we’re going to do more.” I grab her around the neck and hoist her up and out of her chair. “Much more,” I say as I drag her face toward mine.
“No, I want a life with her. I’m willing to do whatever it takes. I promise. I promise I’ll always put her first.”
“Someday, a boy is going to come into your life, and he isn’t going to be afraid of your dad. Nothing will stop him from stealing your heart. Not even Dirk.”
Anyone who tries to keep her away from me will be eliminated from our lives. Whoever and however it needs to be accomplished.
