“It has to do with transgenerational patterns, memories, trauma. Being a Black woman, I can tell you without a doubt that trauma gets passed down. You’ve heard me talk about that. But it’s more than genetics. With family constellations, a family exists within a cloud, a sort of energy field that includes dead family members. All my ancestors are connected to me. If something bad happened to them, or if they did something bad, I could be suffering from it too. Frances says the therapy allows the family to restore balance, taking away the suffering of not only you, but your family too.
Apparently it’s more than genetics that provides a conduit for such pain to pass through. Believers claim that there is a morphic field, or energy cloud, as Viv had called it, in which family members, both alive and dead, reside. A traumatic experience can create an imbalance in the field, causing a collective suffering. The idea of the therapy is to rebalance the dynamic, which relieves the traumatic burden.
I am slammed right now and have a waiting list, which I’m happy to add you to. But I do have a spot for my family constellation workshop in Costa Rica during the first week of March if you’re itching to get started.” That’s a month away. “Viv mentioned that, but I don’t think I can pull off a Costa Rica trip.” “It’s only a few days. I’ve got a great group coming down, and it so happens that someone canceled, and a spot opened up.”
I just had a novelist visit the other day. I think his name was Boo, if I’m not mistaken.” “Boo who?” “I can’t quite recall at the moment.”
