“I could have handled Dominik,” I say, though I’m anything but disappointed Nathan is here instead. “I don’t doubt it,” he responds. “But just because you can doesn’t mean you should have to.”
Am I a strong, independent woman? Absolutely. Does it feel amazing to know this man has made an effort to protect me? To demand better behavior from his teammate? Hell, yes.
But the truth that has to matter the most is the one Nathan is willing to own. Who cares if he feels attraction if he’s never willing to act on it?
I’m too practical to think this will always be easy. But I’d rather face life's challenges with Nathan than I would with anyone else.
He beat me here because I drive like a normal person and he drives like he is five minutes late to his entire life,
