The Summer of Yes

To my mother, tea heals everything.

Tea, always with the Bailey’s Irish Tea… missing my grandma.

I laugh and pick up one of the skewers as Aunt Nila hands me a napkin. She stands there watching me, like she’s waiting for me to try the food.

Reminds me of my grandma making sure everyone was taken care of at the dinner table and their plates full before she took a bite for herself. And then putting more on your plate mid-meal even when you declined.
