This volume was in its final stages of pre-production just as the Israel–Gaza war began in October 2023. We lament the loss of innocent life and the carnage and cruelty that has taken place. The present conflict has deep and murky roots, resulting in a politically and morally complex situation which intersects with colonialism, empire, land, religion, violence, human rights and wider geopolitical factors.
