I can’t stop staring at the archangel prince. Prince Callan is nothing like I expected, and honestly, I’m a little impressed. I knew the prince was powerful, but I didn’t know he was honorable. As though he can feel my stare, he turns my way, his golden hair flicking over his eyes. As our gazes lock, his entire face transforms, his captivating smile entirely at odds with the violence swirling in his penetrating eyes, and I find I can’t look away. Oh, boy.
My first mate doesn’t want me, and my second mate is about to die stealing from me. I always guessed Lady Fate must have a sense of humor, but this is ridiculous.
“May I?” he asks, holding out his hand. He brings my fingers to his lips, his whiskers scratching my skin as he presses a kiss to my hand, sending a chill down my spine. “It’s my honor, my queen.” “Your Queen?” Shade swoons. “I hope Prince Callan is taking notes, because Nate is so much better at this.”
Nate puts down his bottle and smiles. “Don’t worry, gorgeous. I wouldn’t dream of eatin’ your friend,” he says, and this time his predatory gaze isn’t on Shade, but on me. “Fuck it, tell him I am on the menu. He can have me,” Shade comments.
“We’re not going down there, are we? Can’t we just close it and pretend we don’t know it’s there?” “What? Aren’t you curious? We can’t simply turn around now.” “Uh, yes girl, we can. In fact, let me show you.” She adjusts her feet and pivots her body so she’s facing backwards on my shoulder and looking back toward the doorway.
“And leave my queen alone with you? I might be a thief, but I’m not an idiot.” “Now that is debatable,” Prince Callan mutters.
Nate gestures his head to where Prince Callan is spinning the small knife he’d removed from his boot. “Well, would you want to fuck this one? Look at that wingspan. The male is compensatin’ for something.”
“No!” Shade laments in my head. “Tentacles aren’t meant to be scary! Books have taught me they’re for good times!”
