Because, for some reason, I trusted her. I knew without a doubt that she was the rightful Queen of The Underworld. It felt like lost fragments of my twisted soul had been returned. Like everything was as it should be.
I swallowed around the lump in my throat, pushing the want humming in my body down to meet his gaze. “And what am I meant to be?” His blue eyes darkened as he brought his fingers still slick with my desire to his mouth. I watched as he licked them clean, his gaze never leaving mine. “Queen of The Underworld.”
“There’s nowhere in this world or any other you can go that I won’t follow.”
“I plan on fucking you into oblivion, little witch. Over and over until you can’t tell when one orgasm ends and the next begins. Until you understand that all of you—your mind, body, and your beautiful fucking soul—belong to me.”
“I have every intention of finishing what we started, Persephone. When I fuck you, I plan on taking my time. I want to watch you come apart as I bury myself in you. I plan on tasting every moan out of your lips as you bounce on my cock, watching you take every inch I give you like the good girl you are.”
If this was what sinning got me, if this was the hell others warned of, I would gladly burn for eternity.
“You’ve always been powerful, Persephone. The fates have deemed it so. You’re the promised one meant to save our worlds. A child of earth. The bringer of life. You are Persephone, The Destroyer. You were always meant to be feared.”
We were destined to be together. Couldn’t she feel that? Sense how our threads yearned to be joined? Apparently not, because she’d stabbed me and then jumped off a fucking cliff.
“You will be my queen, Persephone. My savior. Even if our realms fall and the gods curse us, I won’t let you go. Not now. Not ever.”
And that stunt in The Elysian Fields? You insisted on putting your life in danger—” “I stopped the death magic. Magic, I might add, that is supposed to be under your control, oh dark one.”
“And I would watch it burn a thousand times over to know you were safe.”
Hades was my demon, bloodthirsty and dark, but mine nonetheless.
“As in get married tonight?” She shrugged. “It would simplify things. Your union has already been blessed by the gods and woven by the fates. All that’s left to do is recite the vows and fuck.”
“Give me your anger, little witch. Glare at me with hatred and fury, with infinite loathing. I’ll take it all, every scowl. Every curse. So long as you live.”
His lips dipped lower with each frantic beat of my heart, before he dropped to his knees before me. “Let me worship you forever.” Dark eyes blazed up at me, the shadow of monstrous wings stretching out behind him.
“The world above may burn. The realms could splinter and fall, and still my soul would find yours. In each life. In every rebirth. Until the end of time, I will love you.”
