This morning, he gave me the most romantic gift—Julio Catania tied up in tight knots, ready to suffer for his sins.
“You little brat.”
I don’t understand his family’s ingratitude. It’s disgusting. “If you came to me on that night five years ago and killed those men, I wouldn’t have been horrified,” I murmur. “I would have worshiped you like a god.”
Like a god? I stand in the shower beneath the hot spray, letting the water wash away my turmoil of conflicting thoughts. Only three women know the full story, yet Seraphine is the only one who didn’t stare at me with looks of anger or horror.
“Good girl.” The praise hits me straight in the clit, my cheeks flare with heat, and all my blood travels to the needy spot between my legs.
I glance across the passenger seat and smile at my innocent little serial killer. She’s curled up with her feet on the seat, and her head is resting against the window. She looks like an angel. A dark angel. A fallen angel. An avenging angel. My angel.
I used to think Seraphine was an avenging angel, but she’s a beautiful little devil sent to tempt me into the depths of depravity. And I’ll follow her into all seven circles of hell.
Seraphine is my drug and I’m ready to overdose.
“I don’t want gentle,” she says through clenched teeth. “I want you to take me, to make me feel alive. Please. I trust you.”
“That’s right, angel,” I growl in her ear. “You’re making such pretty noises for me.”
“Let go, angel. Come all over my fingers like a good girl.”
I haven’t even fucked her yet, haven’t claimed her, but in that moment I make a silent vow: I will never let her go.
“Please fuck me and make me come...” The chaotic part of me adds with a smirk, “If you can.”
“Eyes on me. I want to see you come.”
Tears sting the backs of my eyes as we breathe the same air. Until this moment, I never noticed I had a void, but this has filled my heart to bursting. I’ve never felt so connected to another human being. We’re so close that our souls touch.
“Now that I’ve had you, I can’t ever let you go. You’re mine, Seraphine. Every beautiful piece of you.”
“Yours,” I whisper, meaning every word. “And you’re mine.”
Despite what he’s said, I’m not naïve enough to stake my life on words uttered in the heat of the moment.
Steam rises from the bathtub behind her, creating a faint halo around her body. Maybe I’m drunk on adrenaline and desire, but she looks truly celestial.
“You are not a random hook up,” I say. “What we did together last night was everything. I’ve never met a woman I find so completely captivating, and I never will again. You’re it, Seraphine. It doesn’t get more perfect than you.”
I pull her into my chest. “No one will ever hurt you again,” I say, meaning every word. “I will burn down the entire state of New Alderney before anyone lays a finger on you again.”
“As soon as I’ve caught my breath, you’re going to get punished.” Her cheeks turn pink. “Okay.” Okay? My eyes narrow. It almost looks like Seraphine nearly got us killed on purpose to earn a punishment. I’m going to spank that ass so raw she’ll be sleeping on her belly for a week.
Her voice is a siren’s song, and I’m entranced.
It’s like heaven conspired to create me the perfect companion to fulfill my every need.
“You’re mine,” I growl. “Yours,” she says through gasping breaths.
Seraphine is more than my perfect match, she gives my life a new meaning. Everything I have endured was to prepare me for Seraphine.
“It was exciting.” I pull the garment over my head and fold back its arms. Leroi turns to me, his brow raised. “Getting chased through the woods and brutally fucked or escaping an asshole with a gun?” “All of it,” I reply with a shrug. “I was with you, so I knew I’d be safe.” Smirking, he shakes his head and focuses back on the road. “You are something else.”
I’m awestruck at the way his smile accentuates his masculine beauty. When he’s brooding, the harsh angles of his features are almost intimidating, but when he smiles, it’s like the sun coming out after a storm.
Leroi’s chuckle is as addictive as Belgian chocolate. It makes me want to misbehave more often so I can hear it again.
“Filthy little angel,” he croons. “My eager little pet.”
It’s not difficult to see why she’s such a successful killer. Seraphine is a siren and I would let her lure me to a watery death.
She turns to me, her smile bright. “I told you!” “Told me what?” I ask. “You said my story about the man I electrocuted in the bathtub was bullshit,” she says. “Now that you’ve seen the proof, it’s time for you to apologize.”
“You’re perfect just the way you are. Don’t ever change.” “And?” “And I’m sorry.” Seraphine rocks forward on her tiptoes and places a kiss on my lips. “I love you, too.”
The veins running under his skin are still beautiful, but all those fantasies I had about shedding Leroi’s blood are gone. I can’t imagine anything so horrific.
There aren’t enough words to express my remorse for stabbing him in the stomach, and I plan to spend the rest of my life making sure he feels loved.
I read something in the Alderney Times about a sex trafficker, and discovered that Dad and the twins weren’t the only monsters keeping women in their basements. That’s when I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Leroi thought it was a great idea, but Gabriel took a little more convincing because he worried that I might get hurt. After we showed him what I was capable of, he realized I was no longer his helpless little sister. Gabriel now helps our vigilante group with tech support and intel. We’re still a small team of people from Leroi’s firm, but we’ve saved dozens of

Some men give their lovers flowers, others give them chocolates or even jewelry, but Leroi gives me the satisfaction of revenge and vigilante justice. It’s one of the many reasons I love him so much.
I didn’t just get a happy ending with my knight in black armor. I get to create happy endings for those who need it most.
