“I can see why.” I didn’t realize I’d made a sound, but I must have. Reece glanced up from the menu and his eyes widened. He started shaking his head immediately.
“So where do I find one of them? Should I put out an ad for that?” “Would you stop it with the ads!” He threw his hands up.
“She’s an asshole and I don’t like her talking to you like that.” Anger radiated off him and he stared at the door over my shoulder like he had laser vision.
“Don’t be embarrassed. She was very pretty.” She’s got nothing on you.
“Reece?” “Yeah.” In a flash, her lips were on mine. I tightened my hands around her waist and ran one up her back, pressing her harder against my chest. She tasted like her Tequila Sunrise and a sweetness that made my head swim. Her mouth opened, lips parted, and I was never one to leave an opportunity unexplored.
Shit, I was already a goner and I hadn’t even noticed it. I loved her, and that scared the shit out of me, more than I’d even thought possible.
“Ten.” He jammed his feet into his sneakers. “S—” The apology died in my throat when his eyes narrowed. “Don’t say it.” He slipped his hand around the back of my neck and held me still. “You needed me. That was all that mattered, but I’ve got to go now.” His lips landed on mine, hungry and sweet at the same time. My chest heaved and my head swam. “I’ll come back as soon as I’m finished. I l—” His eyes widened and he froze. “I’m glad you’re feeling better.”
