Feeling awed, she realized that she was again witnessing the fighter he was. A warrior king, magnificent and frightening—and hers.
“God, please help me. I don’t want to be broken anymore.”
His eyes peered into hers before he brushed her hair to the side, dropping kisses along her neck. Her heart swelled. “Tell me how to scale your walls and I’ll do it with my bare hands.”
“It is a reason for you to depend all the more on God. And if the result is that you have come to faith because of it, it is the greatest blessing upon your life.”
I am in awe of you, my strong, bonny lass.”
Behind her a war cry rent the air. She stopped dead. Hector yelled with pride. “How about that? Dinnae pick a fight with Lady MacLean.”
“Did I do it well?” He squeezed her and put his hand to the back of her head, kissing the place where he grasped her. “I’ve never been prouder of any warrior.”
Treasure plunged into fires of evil, but rather than being destroyed she had emerged refined, purified, and more valuable.
“The day God found him. Hector wasnae looking for anything but more drink.
No one was going to do this to her or her child. No one. Never again. God, make me a warrior.
