My mom’s a librarian, and she always ordered Nancy Drew and other whodunit books for me, and I inhaled them. Movies too. I love old Agatha Christie films. I used to fanaticize that Alfred Hitchcock was my long-lost uncle.
This is a pattern, and patterns become cycles until someone breaks them, and I am in the mood to break things.
“You ever feel like the whole world is spinning five steps ahead of you?” I ask. “And by the time you catch up with them, they’ve already moved on?”

Aleeza: Do you ever feel alone in a roomful of people? Jay: It’s just because the world needs to catch up with you.

We had a room. And getting that room is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.
