Carole then called the Freeman home in Connecticut. Dr. Freeman answered, and Carole quickly explained that Carolyn and John hadn’t arrived and there was a search underway. Carole later wrote that she told him, “I’m sure it’s fine, but I didn’t want you to hear it on the news.” Ann Freeman immediately called her back. She listened to Carole explain the airports and calls and missed connections. “Well, everything’s okay, right? Was anyone else on the plane with them?” Carole was silent.
