“Which book did you read first?” Reece asked. “The Fountainhead. It was written first.” “And which one resonated with you the most.” “The Fountainhead,” Danreb replied. “And my theory retains its validity,” Reece stated. “What’s your theory?” “That of those two books, the one you read first will be the one that most resonates. For me it was Atlas Shrugged.” “How did you end up finding Ayn Rand?” Danreb asked. “A college professor who happened to be a Vietnam veteran. He assigned Anthem. After that, I dove into her other work.” “Remarkable person,” Danreb said. “More and more people today try to tear her down and speak of her like she was the devil incarnate.” “Means she stood for something,” Reece said. “She was fearless. I found her in my Russian studies at University of Chicago,” Danreb explained. “She saw her family’s business nationalized by the Bolsheviks under Lenin, I believe,” Reece said. “That’s right,” Danreb confirmed. “The October Revolution. Eventually she made her way to the United States. Everyone should read her. We’ve gotten too comfortable here. Our enemies see it.”
