In the Washington, D.C., area alone, more than 17 million square feet of space is dedicated to storing classified information. It is unknown exactly how many TOP SECRET data storage facilities exist outside the Washington, D.C., area, nor does the government disclose the precise number of Special Access Programs or the number of people with access to their resources.
