Finding My Way Outta Darkness : A Story Of Unconditional Love

Unconditional love is measured by how many flames you are willing to walk through to get to your love.

We are taught as young girls not to shine too bright or speak our minds because that’s being sassy. We are made to feel uncomfortable in our own homes by having to change out of “revealing” clothes because the creepy uncle is coming over. We are taught to not wear red nail polish because then we’ll be labeled as fast. We are taught to not wear our hair straight because then we are seen as being too grown. It’s our fault for being sexually assaulted because we shouldn’t have drank too much. We should have thought about what we were wearing before we went out for the night. Our young girls are runaways instead of victims. We don’t get the news coverage. We don’t get the grace to make mistakes. We don’t get to cry. We don’t get to say no. The world continues to take and take and take from us, never concerned with the fact that we already give everything we have and it still is never enough.

I am sorry for wasting your time beautiful. I wanted a chance to make you smile. Please accept my apology and I hope you can accept this small gift in exchange for you promising not to slap me the next time we meet. x B

Baby girl, I know you are going to make me regret buying this dress because the only thing I’ll be thinking about is tearing it off you. Though you don’t remember our first date, I want to create one you will never forget. The one where I had to beg you to eat dinner with me and then you ghosted me for a month doesn’t count, either! It may seem like we are doing things out of order, but we are exactly where we need to be. I wanted to earn your trust as your friend and gained your heart in the process.
