More recently, when Turkey joined Azerbaijan in attacking Armenians in Artsakh in 2020, the trauma of the Genocide was reawakened. Here we had two fascist dictatorial regimes—who, to this day, deny the Genocide that their ancestors perpetrated—targeting the descendants of that horrific crime with a promise to finish the job that had been started more than a century earlier. History does indeed repeat itself and “never again” is always yet again.
