When she’d gotten mail that her student grant had fallen through, it had been me who intercepted the mail from her mailbox and paid the entire year off. When her car had broken down, it had been me who’d bought a new car and made a pledge list it for sale at a tenth of what it was worth for her to buy. When her teacher had walked her out of class and hugged her for a second too long, it was me who got his ass transferred immediately.
I had the wealth and connections passed down from generation to generation and wasn’t above using all of it for her. Whatever she needed that I couldn’t buy, blackmail, or manipulate, I’d take by force.
“The next time you speak to Seven, come at her correct or I’ll step in and correct you, my nigga.”
“I don’t answer to you and I’m going to give you one chance to walk away before I lay you out for disrupting the time I’m spending with my future wife.”
She deserved to be beside me and I needed her there too.
