The silver magnetic bracelet engraved with intricate Kinetic sigils suppressed my magic, as well as the luminescent blue currents that usually raced up and down my arms and neck. I effectively appeared human. The glamour concealed my dual-toned, black-and-white waves that were marbled together to appear gray, earning my name.
“Come on out, little savage,” he said in a husky baritone. “I wanna see you play.”
“Allow yourself to be worshiped as you deserve to be.”
“You’re mine, Gray Monroe.”
“You fucking own my decaying heart.”
“No matter what happens to me, I’ll always find you. In every lifetime. In every realm. Because it’s always been you for me—ever since I was ten years old.”
It was like he lived inside my soul and knew it intimately.
“You’ll see that I’ll always find you.” I kissed the top of her head. “I swear on my broken soul.”
This woman brought me back to life. She gave me back to myself whether she meant to or not. If she asked me to, I’d level the fucking world for her.
I loved every shattered piece of her. If I had to sweep each jagged shard up with my bare fingers for her so she could piece herself back together, I’d do it without a second thought. I didn’t care if it shredded my skin in the process. Hell, I’d search the winds for the lost pieces.
Hot, angry tears burned down my cheeks. “Don’t you fucking leave me, Gray Monroe. I swear to…” I bent down and peppered her with urgent kisses. “Stay with me.” My voice broke, choking on clawing panic. “You promised to stay with me!”
“I’ll fucking find you. I promise,” I whispered against her blackened lips.
I wanted the fucking world to burn. If she wasn’t in it, then the world didn’t deserve to stand.
Corrupted. I may have escaped becoming Endarkened, but I knew I was something far worse now.
