“I don’t expect us to stay engaged, but I would like the chance to date you. To spoil you and cherish you until you’re ready for that step.”
“You can’t be good enough for them, because what they want isn’t good, Rose. Don’t hurt yourself bending over backwards for people who are going to be unhappy no matter what you do.”
There was a breach of the pillow boundary last night.
I thought I knew him. A heartbreaker with a silver tongue. As cheesy as it is, I judged the book by the cover. And while I am a sucker for a pretty cover, I know it’s the content that matters most. A cover can’t change you, can’t reveal something new to you about life and the world we live in. Only reading the full story can. This moment was another chapter in Grayson’s story. A new revelation of who he is that isn’t perfect. It’s messy and raw, but it’s real.
All my life, I’ve hidden away the darkest parts of me so that no one else would have to deal with them. People don’t want the outgoing, funny guy to be sad in front of them. It’s like they don’t understand I’m more than that initial first impression.
“Don’t ever touch her again. Don’t look at her. Don’t even come near her. If you so much as breathe in her general vicinity, I will make it your last.”
He always catches me.
“That’s my girl.”
“You finished book two,” I say and he grins. “I did. After that dungeon kiss scene, I don’t mind being compared to Castien at all.” His smirk sends flames across my skin. “I forgot about that scene.” “No, you didn’t.” No, I didn’t.
“If you expect me to be embarrassed about staring at the most beautiful woman in the world, then you’ll be disappointed,” I reply, not taking my eyes off Sloane. Her gaze flicks over to me. She’s wearing a faint smile that lets me know she heard me. “You’re such a sap.” Levi laughs. “Says the man who annotated Sloane’s books for his fiancée,” I point out.
My heart has been yours for some time now, Rose. It only makes sense for you to have my last name too.”
We’re doomed to fight over the marshmallows in every cereal box.”
