I look over the edge. Swallow. Look back at Grayson. He softly rubs my shoulders. “If you don’t want to, we can catch up with Stephanie and Mark and go swimming once we reach the bottom. I won’t think any less of you, and we’ll still have fun.” He looks into my eyes. “But if there’s a small part of you that wants to do this, I think you should.”
He thinks he’s helping her grow by doing this. But shoving people out of their comfort zone is not the same as them choosing to step out on their own.
Growth has to be driven by YOURSELF.
