I’d make a good eccentric aunt. The weird one who came over on weekends and brought with her even weirder gifts, and knew how to mend books and wore different-colored socks and had a story for every occasion. I never imagined myself with kids. It never felt like me.

Why is this me though??

“Do you want to go on a walk with me?” “Is it one to remember?” I replied, unable to hide a clever grin.

“I’m just tired of sacrificing myself all the time,” I replied. “I sort of felt like the Giving Tree, chopping myself smaller and smaller, and I guess I finally realized, if I kept this up, I’d be nothing but a stump by the end.”
