We evade responsibility because it’s hard. Because it comes with risks. Because we have a tough enough time taking care of ourselves. Because we’d rather someone else be responsible. But what kind of world would it be if everyone did this? If no one would pick up the resolution that changed Perkins’s life? Certainly not a very just one.
