My breath sucked in when my body slammed against his as my breasts flattened against his chest. His arm curled around my waist, and he dipped his head—his eyes like pools of stars, so bright and dazzling that they threatened to suck my soul into their powerful galaxy.
A moment passed as thick emotion tightened my throat. My heart thundered. Everything in me was swirling, colliding, igniting. Being here, with him . . . everything about it felt right. I felt complete.
“You’re mine, Ilara Seary,” he growled softly in my ear. “Forever. You are my mate, and you belong with me. Anyone who tries to take you from me will suffer my wrath.”
Breathing more deeply, I let my magic build inside me. It rose and warmed my bones as I called upon everything in my reserves. My magic unfurled within my gut, like a flower in my garden that bloomed before the sun. Its petals curled open, one by one, until it practically burst to life.
With lips pressed to my ear, the prince said, “You’re strong. You’re powerful. And you’re mine. Don’t forget any of that.”
