Like after prom, when someone pulled the fire alarm at the hotel, and my date decided it was a sign premarital sex would send him straight to the fiery pits of hell.
Or last year when I was a clueless freshman hooking up with this guy from my American History class, and his cock got stuck in the zipper of his jeans. I tried to help with the zipper sitch—which, judging by his squeals, was wicked painful—but that turned out to be an even bigger mistake than hooking up with him.
Perfect one-night stand material. But... What the hell am I supposed to say? Nice bun, wanna fuck?
“I prefer the term realist,” she shoots back. “Seriously. I’m the girl who should’ve come with a warning label and a lifetime supply of bubble wrap.”
“It’s masochistic,” Priya declares, narrowing her eyes. “You better believe I’m calling him Professor Bates every chance I get. No more of this Call-me-David bullshit. First names are reserved for cool ass profs.”
No hookup is worth a rap sheet. “Are you sure about this?” I turn to Haley. “Because I really don’t think county lockup is the place for me.”
Me: What are you doing right now? Padawan: I told you, I’m at a bar. Try to keep up.
“Ignore him.” Quinn shoots me a scathing look. “He’s a few fries short of a Happy Meal.”
“You know, Emma Stone is my favorite ginger, but you’re a close second.”
He shrugs. “You’re practically pocket sized. How am I supposed to not read it when it’s right there in front of me?”
She starts to open it and pauses. “I should probably lay off the candy, huh? Just in case.” Without waiting for an answer, she tosses it back in the bowl. “Just in case what?” “Just in case it makes a reappearance later. I doubt they taste as good the second time around.”
I chuckle. “Let me get this straight. You aren’t worried about hangovers, but you’re worried about the possibility of puking up your guts?” “Priorities,” she says, each syllable layered with sickly sweet sarcasm.
When it comes to Quinn, I want it all. She draws back, smiling against my mouth. “What are you doing?” “Inviting you back to my place.” She bites her lower lip, the tender flesh as ripe as a strawberry. “Are you sure?” White-hot need coils deep in my balls and I roll my hips, cock gliding over her belly. I need to be inside this woman right fucking now. “I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life.”
Quinn’s curled up next to me, her head resting on my chest. She fits perfectly against me with her hand pressed to my abdomen and one leg draped over mine. It’s like the spot was carved out just for her.
“What’s done is done. Cooper needs to come to terms with his issues because no one else can do it for him.” No matter how much I wish I could. “I may be a work in progress, but I will not chase after a guy who doesn’t think I’m worth the effort.”
“Of course I fucking love her.” The words explode from my mouth, surprising us both. But now that they’re out, there’s no turning back. “She’s incredible. Smart, sarcastic, quirky as hell. And the sex—” “TMI.”
You call yourself a disaster, but to me, you’ll always be a miracle. My smart, beautiful, chaotic miracle. You showed me what it is to love unconditionally, and despite all my faults, you chose me.
“I made time.” No matter how busy life gets, I’ll always make time for Quinn. With all the changes in the last year, she’s been the one constant. The one to keep me grounded. The one I turn to when things get rough. The one who never loses faith in me. “Keep going.”
“I love you, and I can’t imagine my life without you in it. We can wait until after graduation. We can wait five years if that’s what you want, but I need you to know there’s no one else I want to share my life with. You’re it for me, Quinn. You’re my person.”
