Lia, who used to tremble in front of a gun, killed someone to protect me.
“Is it worth it?” “Is what worth it?” “Losing everything for her?” A small smile grazes my lips. “Absolutely.”
I wouldn’t have been…alive. Because even though I performed the act of living before, I’ve never truly lived until Lia came into my life.
“He touched my wife and had to die.”
“And you’re telling me that you’re ready to meet that fate for a nameless nobody?!” he yells, his face reddening. “Yes.”
The only thought that keeps me calm is that Lia and Jeremy are safe.
My heart skips a beat at how I said ‘okay’ and I’m about to correct myself when I recall that Adrian isn’t here. There’s no vocabulary police to worry about and that brings a new surge of heartache.
Also, don’t even think about exchanging me with Boris. One, he’s boring. Two, I’m younger and better to look at.”
“You won’t ever get rid of me, even if Boss throws a jealous fit and ships me back to the Spetsnaz. I’ll find a way to crawl back here.”
“You say that as if I would let him.” He gives me a lopsided grin. “Of course you wouldn’t.”
“My daughter. My blood.” I swallow at the tone of his voice, at the way his eyes soften as if he’s finding a long-lost treasure.
However, they made the mistake of killing my father, so, in turn, we’re killing all of them.” Typical.
“If I’m a gift, then please help me.” “Anything.”
while Kirill is smirking. That should be a good sign.
“Why, Adrian.” Kirill wraps an arm around my shoulder. “I leave you for a moment and you get yourself beaten up by our brute, Vladimir?”
Kyle takes Rai’s hand in his and kisses her knuckles.
“Lia.” “Adrian.”
Yan was always on my side,
“Like yours and Jeremy’s, without the singing and dancing.” “He missed out.” I grin,
He grins. “Putting the fear of God in her so she doesn’t try anything funny.”
She’s glued to the farthest corner of the vehicle, her attention on Yan, who has his gun on his lap. I poke him, and he pretends not to notice.
