A roar made me swing around in fright and I found a fireball of Phoenix flames tearing towards Orion’s back. He moved to defend himself a beat too late, but Shadow was there, rearing up in front of him and taking the full impact right to his chest. He whimpered and fell to the ground in a heap just as another fireball came flying their way and Orion sent an air shield out to protect himself and Shadow from another hit.
