“Tell me, brother, how many stars did you have to fuck to be given another chance at life?” Orion asked. Darius turned to him with a smirk creeping across his face. “No stars, Lance. But your dad took it like a pro.” “You motherfucker,” Orion said through a wide smile, eyes burning bright with relief, confusion, and love for this man before him. “Fatherfucker,”
“First rule of Cardinal Magic,” I murmured. “Do not be a fucking idiot.”
“I mean, we’re adults, right? We don’t have to listen to them, and I don’t want to stop this…” “This?” he asked, giving me that puppy head tilt thing which always forced me to say more than I meant to. “Us. Whatever it is. I…like it. I like being with you, so…”
“What the hell happened to you, Caleb?” Orion asked, skidding to a halt before me. “You look like shit.” I scowled at the assessment, and Darius shifted back into his Fae form, striding towards us butt naked, his tattoos coating his flesh like a second skin. “He smells like shit too,” Darius commented,
“Well, I love him. He’s got all the best qualities,” Seth decided. “Fluffy? Check. Deadly? Check. Cute in a murderous kind of way? Check. What’s not to like?”
“Sure, I’ll just light a scented candle and whisper my wishes into the flames as soon as I locate my aromatherapy set,” Orion deadpanned, and Max’s scowl grew.
“My wife refused to let death have me,” Darius said, heavy emphasis on the word ‘wife’,
Orion slowed to a halt, setting us down and Darius jumped off his back, clapping him on the shoulder. “Good boy. I’ll give you a sugar lump later.” “And I’ll shove it up your ass,” Orion said dryly.
“Come on, baby, let’s go flying,” Orion said, then he threw himself at Darius, locking his arms around him before the two of them plummeted off the edge.
“That’s a whole lot of cows,” Orion murmured as he took in the rows of agents, stumbling into me and I caught his arm. “I’ve got a lot of milking to do. It’s gonna take me all night.”
Because while it lasted, even fragments of Caleb Altair were better than the cavity that was left in my chest without him at all.
Caleb was the Fae who had given me the moon, so I planned on giving him the sky.
“It was too damn easy to fall in love with you when I already loved everything about you, Cal,” I said, my voice rough with those words which had tortured me for so long.
“The moment I let myself imagine something more than friendship between us, I was done for. I know that might not be what you wanna hear, but I can’t keep it secret anymore. I’ve tried everything to keep it locked inside me, because I know that these words risk what we are. But I can’t keep it bottled up forever, I get that now.”
Tasks have been assigned and information gleaned, yet where were the lowly mutt and the biting brute?” “Hunting,” I replied, just as Seth said, “Gathering berries in the forest.”
“Sure. Well you go sniff your own ass in that corner and see if it helps then,” I muttered.
“So what are you doing?” I growled at Seth. “Right now? I’m just wondering if it would be weird to lick my own balls. Like hypothetically, if I could get myself to bend that way and-”
“No good?” Seth called. “No. Maybe it needs the blood of an idiot. C’mere.” “Fuck you,” he laughed.
His no-nonsense approach beat Seth’s though. The last time I’d summoned him to me, he’d brought candles to try and set the mood.
“Make them bow, beautiful.”
Seth and Caleb sat there, their thighs pressed against each other’s, their heads bent low together as they spoke and shared a huge pizza. They glanced up as if feeling my eyes on them, and I offered them a grin before flashing a peace sign at Seth and winking.
her tight-fitting swimming costume that had A.S.S. stitched over her tits. I wasn’t certain if she had it on backwards or if it was some kind of cunning plan to confuse her enemies so they didn’t know whether she was facing them or not.
You are in my head morning, noon and night, your presence invigorates me and your absence leaves me aching. I dream of you whenever I sleep and burn for you whenever you are near. I can’t hide it anymore. I won’t hide it anymore. I want you to be mine, Seth, I fucking need you to be mine.”
“I love you, Seth Capella, even more than the moon loves the sky.”
“Mates,” I finished for him. “We’re Moon Mated.”
“Why did you hang around and watch them going at it with off-brand sex toys anyway?” Orion asked Darius incredulously. “I got stuck there,” Darius said with a scowl.
Darius simply gave them a taunting grin then flashed the two of them the peace sign.
“If there’s one thing you can count on me being, it’s a morbid asshole, Blue.” Orion flashed me his fangs and I smiled.
“I need to be alone,” he gasped before pressing his fist to his mouth and heading for the door. “Lance. Are you coming or what?” he demanded. “Why the fuck would I be coming?” Orion asked Darcy like she might have some clue what Seth was thinking at any given moment.
She was everything. My goddess, my life. And she possessed every worthless scrap of my soul.
“I wish to belong to you in every way a person can belong to someone. The stars mated us, they wove our fates together long ago before our souls were cast inside our bodies. They may have marked you as mine and me as yours, but I want us to choose each other regardless of what the sky might think of it. Because if we hadn’t been mated, I would still love you like this, like the world begins and ends with you.
“Our clock doesn’t tick, Caleb Altair. There’s no seconds, minutes or hours, it has no day or night. It just is. Forever.” I stepped closer to him, cupping his cheek and staring into those navy blue eyes which saw right through to my soul. “Whatever happens tomorrow, our time is always.”
“Our time is always.”
Death couldn’t have me now or ever, because I belonged to her. I would lay in no grave until our life was well-worn and her smile had brightened thousands of glorious days. We were meant to rise with tomorrow’s sun, and I would see that dawn in with my love by my side come what fucking may.
“You go after your guy, I’m going after my girl,” he said.
I had the overwhelming sense that I was exactly where I was meant to be. That no matter what path fate had guided me along in life, somehow, I always would have found myself at the end of an aisle facing Lance Orion.
“Oh you’re so fucking hot for Pegas-ass.” “I’m not, I’m hot for you. Now show me the fucking dijazzle.”
