Aesar rolled his eyes. Lykor was surprised that he didn’t lose them on their journey into the back of his skull. Now, try asking her name. Closing the distance, Lykor stalked up to the girl and barked, “What’s your name, you shaman twat?” Aesar slumped into the couch, throwing his head back with a frustrated sigh.
“I think my broken heart is still with the prince. Even if I’ll never see him again.” Brushing a stray tear away, her voice cracked, strained by the vulnerability of her words. “I wouldn’t want to give those pieces to someone else.” Serenna’s pulse leaped when Fenn leaned closer, consuming everything in her sight until all she saw was him. “I’d gladly accept just a piece if only to protect it.”
The corner of his lip lifted in that quirky way she found endearing, eyes catching the flames below. With the back of his finger, he brushed a stray strand of hair away from her cheek. “There’s my she-elf.”
