The moment they had placed him in my arms at six years old, it was like I knew. He understood me, down to my soul. We had a connection that couldn’t be replicated. He’d been my familiar, my lifelong companion, and the creature of my heart.
There was nothing quite as magical as getting lost in the pages of a good book. I’d always loved that feeling—looking up, and realizing I’d just spent the last three straight hours reading without a break.
“Picky cat, huh?” My little witch had no idea.
waiting for me, and I didn’t know what it was yet. But I wanted to find out.
“I’m not sure you’re ready for that.” His eyes flickered red, and I could have sworn the room darkened.
“Say that again when I'm not in this form, and you’ll see just how powerful I am.”
“Everybody wants something, Willow.” He licked his paw. “Even good little witches like you.”
I found I didn’t like that, either. I wanted to stay by her side. Protect her. Even if I weighed ten pounds, I still had sharp claws. And pointy teeth. If anyone threatened her…
Besides, the only demons that had that ability were ones who had found their mates. That mind-link between a bonded pair. I wasn’t one of the lucky ones who had.
This witch had been powerful, that much I knew. But, I thought with a smirk, I was more powerful. I could outsmart her.
Damien made an indistinct sound in his throat, guiding my attention back to him. “Little witch,” he murmured, cupping my jaw with his hand. His voice was rough, like with disuse.
“I’ve got you,” he promised. “Nothing will happen to you as long as I’m here, Willow. I vow it.”
The second I’d gotten my form back, when all of my powers had drawn back into my body, the truth had clicked in place. Her scent hit me like a lightning bolt to my system. Mine. She was—mine.
I’d never been insecure about my appearance. From a young age, even in the demon realm, they had praised me for my looks. My dark hair and pale skin. But to have Willow’s eyes on me, tracing over every inch of my six-foot-six frame, was something completely different.
eat?” He grunted, taking a sip of his drink. “No, it’s okay. They’ll stop eventually. They’re just curious about you.” My cheeks warmed at the thought that he cared enough to do that. That he seemed to want to take care of me.
Fuck. “Little witch…” I groaned. I was losing control. If I wasn’t careful, I was going to take her.
“It didn’t feel like much of a life until I met you.”
Now, be a good girl and let me lick your pussy, Willow.”
“You’re my home now,” I said, meaning it with every fiber of my being. “My mate.” I kissed her forehead.
