“Speaking of creepy things.” Max frowned at Britt. “Do you still sleep like Hazel and I do? Now that you’ve been turned?” Britt smirked. “I sleep like the dead.” “So, sleep is when you’re most vulnerable to attack. Noted.” “In your rabid kitty dreams.”
“Ugh, must we do this?” Britt made a face as she grabbed a final handful of chips. “His dream’s probably going to be super dull, like eating oatmeal while watching golf … sorry, Hazel.” “Investigating him and Kade equally was your plan, Britt,” I protested. “I know, but thinking about it more, your Bryson’s too boring to be a killer.” “Don’t be idiotic, Brittany,” Max said sharply. “Thank you,” I said. “Some of the world’s most notorious killers were boring S.O.B.s,” Max went on.
Well, I’ll be damned.” “Er, aren’t you?” I asked. “The whole vampire thing?” “Rude, Hazel.”
“Booyah, we’re getting the gang back together!” At Britt’s shocked glare, I hastily fixed it. “I mean, boo … Yeah … someone’s hunting you. I want to validate your feelings of fear, and support you in this time of—”
