“I am Drager. A sun god from the realm of Risest, and I use this Earthly portal to strengthen myself. Your sun here on Earth has more power than mine, and with this safehold gathering and storing its energy for me, my land and fae grow into a power that cannot be defeated.”
“I might have… embedded… our language into your mind long ago,” she said with a shamed expression. “Since I occasionally slip into it without thinking. Figured it would be easier if it sounded like English to you. You even reply in faerie to me sometimes, and it still sounds like English to you.”
He was every book boyfriend I’d ever dreamed of wrapped up in one package, and he’d probably be the reason I died today. If there was a walking red flag in a book, that was my man. Apparently, the same went for real life. Typical.
He looked grave. “It runs for the next thirty Earth days.” His eyes and expression darkened. “During that time, you belong to me, human. Mine to own, control, and destroy. You should start praying that your body can contain the force of mine, because there’s no other choice. It is time.”
“Everyone in this room will fuck.” That blunt statement jolted me from my current obsession with how hot and bothered I felt. “They will fuck every which way with their chosen partner. They will stop to eat and drink and refuel with sleep, before they start again. The magic of this fertility ritual cannot be circumvented, and if you resist, you will be punished with enough pain to destroy your mind in less than a day. Do you understand?”

“La moyar,” he rumbled. “Fated mate.”
“It’s time to face the consequences of your actions,” words I understood, that I heard a familiar lilt. “That’s her!” I screamed, still covering my ears and eyes. “That’s the traitor.”
Oh, and we also had a world to save. A world now filled with fallen fae gods.
